The Fairfax Town Council consists of a mayor and four council members who each serve 4-year terms. Town elections are held in November of even-numbered years.

The Town Council is primarily responsible for making laws, setting policies, adopting budgets, and overseeing a wide-ranging agenda for the community. It also monitors the activities of the city administrator, city attorney, and other municipal departments and operations. Additionally, the Council appoints members to four advisory commissions.

Meetings

The Town Council has an official meeting at 6:00 p.m. on the third Mondays of the month in the Town Council chambers. Council work sessions are held the second Monday of the month, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Agendas for both meetings are available from Town Hall, ______________, the Friday prior to the meeting. Members of the Town Council also act as the Town's Economic Development Authority, which makes decisions on issues related to economic development.
